In attempt to update...October No. 1

In attempt to update my forgotten blog I thought I would back track all the way to October.

The 2017 St George Marathon was a success and possibly my favorite one yet. All went well, smoothly and little to no stress. It was different without Kent but Shane just allowed me to do my job and do it well...and did not but support along the way.
The kids came with us to the start line this year. It was fun to have them with us and take part in the marathon traditions we have set over the past 10+ years.
The family came to the finish line as well.
It is always so fun to have them by my side event weekend.

And of course I got to see my two favorite boys who completed their 11th race as well.

The week of the marathon our home was finally finished and we moved in to Aspen Estates.
We LOVE our new home, the extra space, our neighborhood and our ward.
We have new callings...Brent is in the YM Presidency and serves with the teachers and after being called to 4 different callings in 3 short weeks they settled on one official calling...I have been called into YW as the Camp Director.

After we moved in, settled in and unpacked...we packed right up and headed to Mexico on our first family cruise.

Beach Balls, Hair Balls, Ball Game...Farewells, Hellos, Birthdays and Rain

To finish off the month of July we decided that we needed at least one beach day this summer. Brent and I packed up our car late Friday night and drove to California.
I had booked our room online like I usually do. All seemed fine and good until we pulled up at 9:30 p.m. to the most run-down crack house Hotel in the entire state. In my defense the pictures online were very nice AND very deceiving. An absolute lie to be honest.
I went in to see if our reservations were in fact at this hell hole and sure enough they were. I quickly asked what it would take to get out of our reservation and they were not very accommodating.
So we hesitantly decided to go up to our room to see if it was any different than the outside of the building. After we passed the two prostitutes and the one very intense drug deal going on in our parking lot we entered our hotel room which was literally a bed in the middle of a room. With one small microwave placed on the floor and a bathroom sink attached to wall...barely. Minutes later after pacing the floor Brent pulled back the sheet of the bed to reveal at least a wigs worth of hair from various body parts on the mattress pad...not to mention three very suspicious large strains.
After the two of us threw up a little we grabbed our luggage loaded it back in the car and demanded a refund. After speaking to our online booking source we managed to get most of our money back. But this is where the adventure begin. We spent the next two hours driving the better part of Southern California looking for a vacant hotel room. There were none to be found. At about midnight we finally found a hotel that had a recent cancellation. Way way way too much money later we finally had a room for the night that was hair free and somewhat acceptable.
At that point I no longer cared and would have taken anything. However my idea of just sleeping on the sand of Newport Beach probably was the best idea... but a hotel room with a shower was what we decided on.

After a somewhat peaceful night of sleep we woke early the next morning to spend our day in the sand and the ocean. All of our worries were left behind as we laid in the Sun, soaking in the Rays and enjoying the sounds of the waves.

Earlier in the week we had found out that our friends Adam and Stef were also going to be in California that weekend. We decided to meet them for an Angels game.
I grew up going to Angels games with my parents and have always been a fan even though they have taken a backseat to my Indians. However we cheered them on especially Good Old Cole who was a Sun Devil before he became an Angel.

I'm pretty sure the best part of the evening besides the good conversation that Stef and I had the entire game was the helmet full of nachos that Brent and I shared...andhr finished.

The week after our trip to California I received a text from Jo saying she was going to be up north and wanted to get together with everyone for dinner however in her text she said she knew it would be hard for me to make the trip.
Has the group text continued it turned out that all of the girls were able to make it. All six of us haven't been able to get together in years. There has always been one or two of us left out of each get together. So I decided that I was going to have none of that. I was not going to be the only one left out of this dinner. So Thursday afternoon after a short day at work I drove up to Salt Lake City to meet five of my greatest friends in the world for dinner at the Dodo.

It was a very fun night. We always pick up right where we left off. However I think that this year everyone seemed to be in a really good place. In the past we've had divorce, death, breakups, infertility, problems with our children and their dads, unforeseen moves and much much more heartache. I guess when you have remained friends since you were 10 years old there are a lot of trials that you go through. However this year we had brand new babies... twins to be exact, new jobs, steady relationships, trips around the world and overall happiness. We are all very tired but happy.
Words cannot express the love and admiration I have for these ladies. They have always been such a strength to me and there friendship means the world to me.
We only took one picture and Shenise had already left to get home to her twins.
I cannot believe it. I was so sad that I didn't get a picture of all of us together. But for sure next year.

That night I stay the night with Kelli in her darling little home in Sugarhouse. We got up early so she could get to work and I drove down to Provo to go on a morning run. I ran through campus. Iran by the new MTC. I made my way to the Provo City Temple and back to the football stadium. It may have been the best run I've been on in a long time. What a beautiful city that I spent many many years living in. Although some of those years were the hardest of my life the feeling that you have in that city is undeniable. There is a reason they call it happy valley.

And it is also home to one of the best acai berry bowls in the world.

The weekend following we were able to go to Kent and Lynns farewell. They are headed to Houston Texas to serve a mission for the church.

Beginning of August the kids returned home from Salt Lake. I couldn't have been happier. However once again I failed to take a picture. I'm going to go ahead and blame Brent.
His constant complaining about pictures being taken is really taking a toll on my photo excitement. However I've decided I no longer care if he wants to take a picture or not. He just doesn't need to be in them...But one day he will want to look back at our life together and his darling face  won't be in any of our memories. Sucks for him.

We held our annual Pine Valley trip for Pey's 8th birthday.
For some reason she really loves Pine Valley and likes to spend her birthday there.

And for some also unknown reason she decided this year she wanted a Mexican flag accordion. I tell you this girl is definitely her own person.

I'm not sure what happened but the cake was a little bit of a disaster. At least we had Dutch oven cobbler that's another option. A better option in my opinion.

As we sat in a circle to play Nana's question and answer game it began to downpour. All of us ran to pack up our food and everything we had brought with us. We threw our stuff in the back of our cars and without saying goodbye to each other we drove back to St George.
I was pretty bummed I too love Pine Valley and her annual trip there.

Our new home is coming along nicely. It looks like we will close the Monday following the marathon. I believe it will be ready before then but the thought of moving prior to the marathon is a bit overwhelming to me at this point. So we will wait an extra week so that I can be there to get my home in order.

We are so excited to start this next chapter of our lives. We will start attending our new Ward next Sunday.
We feel extremely blessed to be able to move into a brand new home even though all of the pictures on the walls will be Brent-less. :)

Celebrating a Big 4-0 and More.

The month of July we celebrate three of my dearest friends birthdays.
Melea, Emilie and Tammy.
We always seem to celebrate Tammy's but we haven't really done anything fun for the other two. Until this year.
This year Emilie turned the big 4-0.
Her sweet husband planned a big weekend at the lake. So we all loaded up our camping/"beach" gear and headed to Enterprise Reservoir.
Dawn and I were the only 2 from the group that could make it... along with a few of Emilie's friends and our co-worker Marty and his wife Ramona.
I just happened to be the only LDS girl there. So I came prepared with my "hard stuff" because I knew they all would have theirs. I literally had a quarter of my cherry Pepsi before I had hit my limit. Water is truly where it's at.

We spent the day on the gravel aka-sand in our  floppy hats soaking up the Sun.

We cruised around the lake in the Pinkelman pontoon and witnessed the death of many many trout.

It was a fun time had by all.

The next week we went to lunch with the whole group at Sakura.

We have plans to celebrate Tammy's birthday which is coming up this weekend. Another day at the lake possibly or maybe once again poolside. But no matter what we do when all of us are together it equals a fabulous time. I sure love these friends of mine and I'm grateful for them everyday.

The Rest of June and into July

June finished off quite well and pretty busy.
They finally started our home after months of waiting.
Work was busy. We kicked off June with our June Moon Jubilee. A very long, hot event that consists of George Street Fest, a light parade and a Moonlight 5K to be topped off with a fire hose Frenzy.
This is Patrick and I...still in a good mood setting up for the event.

That night Randy, Stan and Amy joined Brent and I for the Moonlight 5K. It was hot and very crowded.

June is a busy month for our family we celebrate three anniversaries and a few  birthdays. Lori and Russ celebrated their anniversary on June 8th Kaci and Raleigh celebrated their is on June 15th and of course Brent and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary on June 14th.
We didn't do much. Nine doesn't seem like that important of a year for an all out celebration. We went to dinner and then met up with some friends for ice cream.

The week following all of the anniversaries Girls Camp took place. Not too long ago I was called to be the camp director. It's not a bad calling because Camp was pretty much already planned and ready to go. However, whoever planned Camp before I came along planned a 4-day adventure hike just prior to Girls Camp.
The older girls 15 and up were invited to participate in the adventure hike.
So we packed our 50lb packs and headed up to the middle of nowhere in the 112 degree weather. We didn't have bathrooms, we didn't have cabins, we didn't have showers, we didn't even have running water except for the stream nearby. Each day we would hike for several miles hang out under a shady tree until the sun started to go down and then we would hike somemore. We would hike until we found a nice flat area to lay our tarp down so that we could "sleep". Bright and early the next morning we would eat our rehydrated dehydrated refried beans and our block of cheese that began to sweat from the heat... and then hunger again.
It actually was quite fun and I loved every minute of it spending my time with Savanna.

After the adventure hike the younger girls met us at Outpost for 3 days of girls camp. Lots of singing, lots of dancing, lots of flies and a lot of heat. We had water fights to keep us cool, lots of craft projects to kill time and we had a lot of fun getting to know one another better. However the downside was I have never smelled so bad in my entire life. Baby wipe Babs do not do the trick.

For those of you who don't know we acquired a Traeger grill recently. These smokers have become quite a big deal in the Ellsworth family. Brent has jumped on board and really started making some great recipes. I have loved it because it has cut my cooking responsibilities in half.
When we arrived home from Girls Camp we had pulled pork waiting for us. It was delicious not only because we had been eating nasty Just Add Water food for 7 days but because Brent did a fabulous job and is really getting the hang of this grill.

As June went by our house begin actually looking like a home. We are so excited to move in and begin this next adventure of our lives.

The weekend of the 4th of July Brent and I had some time off. We had planned to go to California to spend some time at the beach, however one of my staff was admitted to the ICU and I needed to stay close by to cover a few responsibilities for him. So instead of California Brent and I took a day trip to Panguitch and Bryce Canyon. In all the years I have lived in Utah I have never visited Bryce Canyon. It was a fun day. Brent was able to see a few of his old friends from his Alsco days. We ate good food went for a nice walk through Bryce Canyon City and just loved spending time together. Recently there has been a huge fire in Brian Head and the smoke has settled near Bryce Canyon. This made for an ugly day and a hard to breathe day but we had a great time in the less.

Fourth of July is one of our longest day events. We come to work at 4:30 a.m. and most of us stay through the fireworks that last until midnight. My family usually has a small family reunion during the 4th of July. So I fortunately have been able to get out of this event for the last few years. But with the illness of my staff member I worked the event to cover all of his responsibilities. It was a very long day but we had a blast. The Uncle Sam 4K, the Independence Day Parade, baby races, hot dog eating contests and much much more made for a very patriotic fourth. Not to mention a lot of karaoke.

After the work festivities Brent and I went to the Hydes house for a barbecue with the rest of the family. Brent made ribs prior in his new smoker. They were so so good. We had a great time with family. It was a pretty good forth all in all. However once again we were missing the kids.

The summer months are just clicking by which means my children will be home soon for good. I just can't wait. They have been spending a lot of time on an RV trip through California. They will come home soon for a week-long stay and then head back to Salt Lake for their final two weeks with her dad. Then they will be home for good.
More fun July Events to come.
